City Grows is a garden center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is listed at 5208 Butler St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201, which places it among the local businesses of Pittsburgh that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as plant nursery, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

In Pittsburgh, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in Pennsylvania, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 10 am–6 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach City Grows at (412) 781-2082; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, city-grows.square.site.

Customers rate it 4.8 out of 5 on Google across 119 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded garden centers in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Pittsburgh is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

What an amazing first time experience. I found the cactus I wanted. I wanted a cactus that looked like that cartoon 🌡 we all know. Then learned that those furry cactus may look sweet and innocent but ya no. THANK YOU for that one. I will never pet another one. Little fiberglass monsters. Not only did I get my cactus but I found 2 adorable cat planters and a cat/plant sticker for my laptop. My Donkey Tail succulent is planted in the cat in the box planter and it is perfect!!! I live a bit of a ways away, but I will be back!!!!!!

If you’ve got any plant needs, city grows lawrenceville is the place to go! My sister and I stopped in this afternoon to get supplies to make a dog water bowl planter for my pup. We were expecting to just go in and pick out a few plants, but we wanted to make sure we made good decisions so we asked for help from who happened to be the shop owner’s husband, Tony. He was SO helpful and kind, he made the whole process of picking out cute, pet safe plants really easy and enjoyable! Tony went above and beyond to make sure we got the correct amount of soil and advised us about various plants around the shop. We loved our experience there, it felt like such a cozy part of the neighborhood and I’ll 100% be stopping back there next time I want to expand my indoor jungle.

What a great store! Jessie was SO helpful, knowledgeable, and kind! I came in and described to him what I was looking for, and he knew immediately the best choice for my space. The store is beautiful with so many options to choose from; my mom and I found two plants each. We will definitely be back and hope to see Jessie again! Thank you!

Super cute shop and decent prices. The employees really know all about the plants and were very helpful answering questions. They have a section for pet safe plants which was super cool and they also sell catnip and cat grass seeds. All the plants look super healthy and well taken care of.

My husband and I discovered this place after eating at the nearby vegan cafe (B52). What a beautiful and amazing variety of plants! There was even a section of essential oils with lots of testers that I enjoyed sniffing. We weren’t able to buy anything this time, because we hadn’t expected to come across this store and I didn’t want to drag plants all around Pittsburgh, but I absolutely plan on coming back soon to pick some things up. The people are talkative and sweet, also. Really great store!
